Welcome to Plattekill Town Dog Control
The Town of Plattekill has a Dog Control Officer (DCO) and his name is Andrew McKee. For any emergency with a dog, contact the State Police Highland Office at 845-691-8473 and they will contact the Dog Control Officer. For a request that is not an immediate emergency, you can call the Plattekill Police Department at 845-883-6373 and they will assess the situation and contact the DCO. For everyday matters that do not need immediate attention, call the Plattekill Dog Shelter at 883-6557.
Mr. McKee is also charged with enforcing dog licensing. If you haven’t done so yet, please license your dog by visiting the Plattekill Town Hall, completing an application, showing proof of vaccinations, and paying a modest fee. Mr. McKee will be tending to the dogs in the shelter, placing those available for adoption on petfinder.com.
The animal shelter is in need of the following items: blankets, towels, bleach, and food. If you wish to donate any of these items to our local shelter, please contact Andrew at the shelter number above. It has been proven that owning a pet can decrease blood pressure and reduce anxiety, along with providing wonderful companionship. Please consider helping our animals in need and if you adopt one, it just may help you right back.
